KGCCI invites you to a Korea-EU FTA Seminar with the EU Delegation and PwC divided in two sessions:

1st Session: The Korea-EU FTA: where do we stand six years on?

Since the application of the FTA in 2011, Korea has become a significant partner for the EU: In 2016, it was the EU's 8th largest supplier and the 9th largest export market. For Korea, the EU has secured its position as the country's 2nd largest supplier and the 3rd largest export market. In addition, in the fast-growing service sector, bilateral EU-Korea trade has increased dramatically over recent years. 1 July 2017 marked the sixth anniversary of application of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the EU and Korea.

Mr. Johann Vandromme, the First Counsellor Trade & Economy Section at the EU Delegation, will present and share his insights on the major implications of the KOR-EU FTA during the last six years.

2nd Session: Statistics and Implications of Origin Verification: How to prepare for the process

In terms of the Korea-EU FTA, exporters issue an ‘origin declaration’ themselves after registering as ‘approved exporters’. The customs authority in Korea carries out regular origin verification controls on those exporters. Companies concerned must ensure continued compliance with the use of the authorization and origin verification. Over the past two years, this topic has become one of the key issues for which thorough preparation is absolutely necessary.

Mr. Youngmo Lee, an experienced customs attorney at PwC, will provide hands-on advise on how to deal with the verification process based on 3-4 real cases.
