To foster the creation of resilient and low-carbon electricity systems, both countries are exploring a range of options, including capacity mechanisms, strategic reserves, the integration of large-scale battery storage and battery cell recycling.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the Korean Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy (MCEE), we are pleased to invite you to the:

The 8th Korean-German Energy Day offers an opportunity to exchange perspectives on current developments and policy approaches across these topics and share practical experiences. This year's programme will offer a structured exchange across the following sessions:

  • Session I: Security of Supply in the Electricity Sector: Providing Flexibility via Capacity Mechanisms, Strategic Reserves and Other Options
  • Session II: Integration of Large-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems in the Electricity Grid
  • Session III: Battery Cell Recycling

The Korean-German Energy Day is the main public event of the Korean-German Energy Partnership, established by the two ministries in December 2019. It provides a forum for representatives from government, industry, research and civil society in both countries to exchange perspectives and discuss current developments in energy policy.
