About our client LPKF is an European High-Tec machinery producer, stock-exchange company. The state-of-the-art machines are used throughout various application industries, mainly the electronics industry. To strengthen the presence and activities in the Republic of Korea, with a particular focus on sales, LPKF is searching for a highly-qualified and experienced General Manager who has previously worked in small-sized companies (5-10 employees) in Korea. The position is located in Seoul.

Job Description:

The General Manager will represent the company in Korea and provide the operational leadership to implement the strategic goals of the different entities following corporate guidelines. Ideally, the successful candidate should have a strong technical background and professional experience, especially in the electronic or machinery industry, as well as substantial sales experience. The GM will report directly to the Board of Directors in Germany.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To lead the mid-sized company in Korea and support operations, especially in the field of sales for the imported high-tech machines
  • To implement the organization’s overall strategy on the local level and set business objectives for the organization
  • To assure the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a positive image to relevant stakeholders
  • To guide and support all functional areas of the operation in Korea, including Finance and HR, with full P&L responsibility
  • To lead and motivate the team and BU heads through driving achievable goals and establish a strong performance-based culture
  • To be the legal representative of the company in front of customers, legal bodies, business partners and other market participants
  • Close communication and alignment with headquarters in Europe, involving conclusive and timely reporting as required by HQ

Expected Experience and Qualifications:

In line with the strategy, LPKF is seeking an outstanding candidate with the following characteristics:

  • Proven track-record of managing a small-/mid-sized European / German company in Korea
  • Extensive experience gained in multinational company, in Sales, Management and Marketing in Korea, with full P&L accountability
  • Industry competence with expertise and network in the electronic or machinery industry, as well as all relevant application industries
  • Experience in Sales of capital goods
  • Exceptional leadership skills and a natural instinct for business and management, with previous work experience in Korea
  • Business acumen and management skills to implement procedures and policies
  • Vision and intrinsic ability to drive initiatives to further strengthen and expand the business across Korea and to motivate the team
  • Cost consciousness and lean management competence preferred
  • Agility with a high level of motivation for growing business
  • Strong intercultural competence and experience in working in foreign companies in Korea

Job description:

Main Task

  • Autonomous management and representation of the plant in accordance to cost, timing and quality targets.
  • Ensuring the achievement of all Annual Operation Plan targets to support the defined strategy and targets of the company.
  • Securing of an efficient and cost-effective production at the plant, as well as implementation of a plant specific KVP
  • Securing of a regular technical coordination and a knowledge transfer with other plants and the Schlemmer Group
  • Securing of the quality management at the plant in accordance with the quality management of the Schlemmer Group
  • Personnel management according to the measures of the management of the Schlemmer Group and developing subordinates through of Performance Management.
  • Guarantee of an optimal functionality according to set standards for buildings, facilities, infrastructure and outdoor areas as well as cleanliness and order in all areas
  • Planning and monitoring of the ongoing costs as well as investments in collaboration with the management of Schlemmer GmbH as well as identifying cost reductions potentials and check monthly achievement.
  • Coordinating, monitoring, occupational safety, accident prevention and environmental protection considering the company’s policies and local legal requirements.
  • Technical coordination of the different plants regarding the whole facilities and logistics processes
  • Responsible for operative and strategic development through / by process and product innovation
  • Development of new customer and market potential as well as strategic cooperations in collaboration with the Business Units and Sales department of the Schlemmer Group
