HR Management

Position: Board Affairs Manager

 

Duties and responsibilities

The Board Affairs Manager will be responsible of supporting the Secretary to the Board and Head of Governance Affairs in coordinating the Board pillar of work within OGA, including the preparation of Board meetings; facilitating communication between the Board and the Secretariat divisions; and overseeing the implementation of Board adopted policies. The incumbent will also act as focal point for cross-divisional coordination efforts in support of Board related matters and assist the Secretary to the Board in diverse duties. The Board Affairs Manager will be reporting to the Secretary to the Board and Head of Governance Affairs.

  • Ensure adequate support is provided to the Board decision-making process during and in between Board meetings, including the timely dispatch of notifications and relevant information to Board members, alternate members and advisors;
  • Manage cross-divisional efforts towards the effective preparation of formal and informal Board meetings, including by coordinating the Secretariat engagement with the Co-Chairs and with the Board;
  • Plan and take appropriate measures to ensure the smooth transition and onboarding of new members of the GCF Board, within and across terms of membership;
  • Maintain an overview of the work of Board committees and groups on matters under Board consideration, in collaboration with Secretariat focal points;
  • Monitor the implementation of Board decisions in collaboration with relevant divisions, bringing to the Senior Management Team (SMT) matters requiring their attention.
  • Contribute to Fund-wide planning efforts, including in relation to the development and regular update of the work plan of the Board and the work program of the Secretariat, in collaboration with the Office of the Executive Director (OED);

Required experience and qualifications

  • Master’s degree in international relations, political science, environmental studies, sustainable development, social sciences, legal studies or related fields;
  • Minimum 11 years of relevant work experience, including professional background in managing multilateral processes, assisting decision making bodies and organizing policy events;
  • Prior experience leading communication efforts with government officials, representatives of regional groups and a range of stakeholders is required;
  • Demonstrated experience in team management and staff professional development;
  • Prior experience managing decision-making processes and bodies is a strong advantage;
  • Proactive aptitude oriented to solving problems;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a broad range of stakeholders to communicate at various levels and maintain good working relationships;
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of local language and/or another United Nations language is an advantage;
