2nd KOREAN GERMAN ENERGY DAY: System Integration of Renewables & Smart Grids
As industry-based economies Korea and Germany face similar challenges when it comes to shaping their energy system’s future. Both countries aim to significantly reduce their carbon emissions by increasing the usage of renewable energy and energy efficiency while phasing out the use of nuclear energy and reducing the reliance on fossil fuels. With rising shares of variable renewables, solutions for their system integration get increasingly important.
Organized on the margins of the International Renewable Energy Conference (KIREC), this event provides a platform for mutually learning from experience and discussing potential strategies and measures for system integration of renewables in Korea and Germany. The event thereby sets a focus on the role of smart grids in this context and also intends to identify opportunities for increased cooperation between both countries. Energy experts from government, industry, research and civil society are invited to participate.
