To support our continued growth in Asia, we are seeking technical specialists for various locations, one of which is the Technical Project Manager for Korea serving the Northeast Asia region.

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: Technical Project Manager, Korea/Northeast Asia Region

 

Based in Korea, the Technical Project Manager (TPM) will work with both the General Manager and the Service team of the Korea office, and with the TPM’s peers in the region (Taiwan, China, and Southeast Asia).   

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus on the commissioning of Schmoll machines in Korea in cooperation with the local service teams with full responsibility for customer satisfaction.
  • Channel essential information and mediate between the teams in Asia and Germany, forming the interface between the Asian offices and the manufacturer in Germany.
  • Analyze technical requirements of customers and report the findings to German HQ specialists.
  • Use and manage Schmoll’s online service-tickets system for communication with service teams.

  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Professional experience in servicing technically complex products, ideally with drilling machines in the PCB industry or machine tool manufacturing
  • Fluency in English and German, ideally with some Korean
  • Regular customer-site visits throughout Korea and travel across Asia & to Germany  
  • Project management skills and leadership experience
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, self-confidence, and team spirit
  • Work independently and structured, strong hands-on mentality/ownership

POSITION OVERVIEW & JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the finance function of the newly established JOWAT Korea. As the Korea business is currently small and at an early stage of development, the role is initially structured on a part-time basis. The Finance Manager will oversee local financial management and compliance, support Group reporting, and work closely with the Korea Managing Director and Finance teams in Germany and Asia-Pacific. The role will also serve as the local Finance contact for the planned Group-wide SAP rollout and implementation at JOWAT Korea.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial management, reporting, and internal controls for JOWAT Korea.
  • Prepare budget monitoring, cash-flow forecasts, and other financial information for the Korea Managing Director and Group Finance.
  • Ensure compliance with Korean accounting, tax and statutory requirements, and Group finance policies.
  • Coordinate statutory accounting, tax, audit, payroll and related matters with external service providers.
  • Manage cash, banking, intercompany balances, and other key finance processes.
  • Support financial planning and analysis as the Korea business develops.
  • Serve as the local point of contact for the JOWAT Group’s SAP rollout, including testing against Korean accounting and reporting requirements and identifying required local adaptations. Work closely with the Group Finance, Accounting, and IT to align the implementation with Group finance processes.
  • Prepare and submit Korea finance data for Group and Asia-Pacific reporting.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) or substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience in financial management, accounting, budgeting and compliance.
  • Knowledge of Korean accounting, tax and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP preferred.
  • Business-level English; native or fluent Korean.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a small organization.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a foreign-invested company or multinational environment.
  • Participation as a finance key user during ERP or SAP implementation projects.
  • Experience coordinating external accounting, payroll and tax service providers.
  • Exposure to intercompany accounting and international reporting environments.
