Korea and Germany are swiftly moving towards a common goal of carbon neutrality. As industrialized, export-oriented nations with a focus on manufacturing, both countries face similar challenges to achieve carbon neutrality and energy transition. In Korea, there has been an increasing interest and political commitment in the energy transition in recent years. Political and technological advancements have been made in Germany since the 2000s, based on the national consensus on climate protection and energy transition.

The inauguration of the new German Government has already taken place in Germany at the end of 2021, and a new government has been launched in Korea this May.

Given the geographical characteristics of both Germany and Korea, offshore wind is considered one of the main driving forces to scale-up renewable energy generation and achieve carbon neutrality.

Against this backdrop, this conference has been organized to hear from the German and Korean Governments in terms of their supporting policies and lessons learned in the development of offshore wind and aims on intensifying business exchange and collaboration in these future-oriented industry fields. The invited experts will also share their knowledge and technological experience from a national and global perspective.
