Dear KGCCI members,
Join us for a webinar on Apr 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM KST / 7 h MESZ for early birds in Germany.
After the landslide win of President Moon’s Minjoo Party and its satellite party which will jointly hold most likely 180 of 300 seats in the National Assembly, the Korean Government finds a solid majority to continue its work until the end of President Moon’s tenure.
The Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung Korea Office therefore invite you to a virtual round table to discuss the outcome and the implications of the Elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
Did economic issues and the COVID-19 situation dominate the elections? Were the parties able to adequately communicate their political agenda? Which effects did the amendments to the electoral law and the voting age have on the outcome of the election? Is the 21st National Assembly more female and younger than the previous ones? Were the citizens motivated to vote? Can we expect the new National Assembly to pass necessary economic reforms to bring Korea back onto a path of growth and what do we expect from Korean-German relations for the remaining time of President’s Moons tenure?
These and many other questions including your own will be discussed by:
- Stephan AUER, German Ambassador to the Republic of Korea
- Prof. Dr. Bee YUN, Sungkyunkwan University
- Wonseok "William" JUNG, United Future Party, spokesperson of the UFP's national election committee
- Stefan SAMSE, Resident Representative, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Korea Office
- Barbara ZOLLMANN, President & CEO, Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry
