On August 2nd, Porsche Korea (Holger Gerrmann, CEO of Porsche Korea Ltd.) signed a service agreement with the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Dr. Martin Henkelmann, President & CEO of the KGCCI) at the Porsche Korea Office and announcing that it will join the ‘Ausbildung’ program, based on the German vocational training.
‘Ausbildung’ is an advanced German technical personnel training program that combines on-the-job training at company sites and theoretical education at vocational colleges. ‘Ausbildung’ was first introduced to Korea in 2017, marking the 5th anniversary this year. Now it consists of three professions of Ausbildung: ‘Auto-Mechatroniker’ (car maintenance specialist) and ‘Autolackierer’ (car paint specialist) and ‘Karosserie-Mechaniker’ (car body specialist).
Through participation in the ‘Ausbildung’ program, Porsche Korea plans to systematically support the ‘dreams’ of Korean automotive talents. It aims to select talented individuals and provide on-site training programs to enable them to grow into professional engineers with the brand’s authentic technological skills.
At the signing ceremony, Holger Gerrmann, CEO of Porsche Korea and Dr. Martin Henkelmann, President & CEO of the KGCCI participated, promising to actively cooperate to create jobs and foster future talents through the industry-academy cooperation. Porsche Korea is planning to join the ‘Ausbildung’ program, which will be launched in September this year, and will participate in the ‘Auto-Mechatroniker’ process in automobile maintenance.
Ausbildung Auto-Mechatroniker Program is for third-grade students in high schools and meister high schools specializing in car repair and maintenance. After signing an employment contract with Porsche Korea’s official dealer partners, the selected trainees receive practical training (70 percent) from a professional trainer who has completed training accredited by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (Deutscher Industrie – und Han-delskammertag, DIHK), and theoretical education (30 percent) at partner schools based on the University faculty curriculum.
When trainees complete a three-year course (excluding military service period), they will receive a bachelor’s degree from participating vocational colleges and an Ausbildung education certificate issued by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce.
CEO of Porsche Korea Holger Gerrmann stated, “I am very delighted that Porsche Korea will participate in the Ausbildung program, which has been accredited in Germany for a long time, to provide high-quality education and the brands maintenance techniques to youngsters in Korea who will become future experts in the automotive industry.” He added, “We want to create an environment in which young talents can prepare themselves for the future and further contribute to the development of the automotive industry in Korea.”
Dr. Martin Henkelmann, President & CEO of the KGCCI, said, "We warmly welcome Porsche Korea's participation in the Ausbildung program in the special year of the 40th anniversary of the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI). We will work successfully with the brand for a further strengthening of Ausbildung in Korea."
