KGCCI Donates 200 Bookstands to Empower Visually Impaired Students
(Seoul, October 11, 2024) The Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI, President & CEO Martin Henkelmann) donated 200 bookstands to the Seoul National School for the Blind on October 11, 2024. This donation aims to improve learning environment of and promote greater inclusivity for visually impaired students.
The donation ceremony took place at the Seoul National School for the Blind and was attended by KGCCI President Martin Henkelmann, Yangsook Cho, Principal of the Seoul National School for the Blind, and Jinhyung Cho, President of the Seoul Blind Union. The event underscored the importance of accessible educational tools for academic growth and empowerment of visually impaired students.
Dr. Henkelmann highlighted KGCCI’s commitment to social responsibility, stating, “At KGCCI, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of circumstances. By providing these bookstands, we hope to create a more inclusive learning environment. It is not just about accessibility – it is about empowerment.”
This donation reflects KGCCI’s continued commitment to corporate social responsibility and local community beyond businesses. In August, over 450 participants from KGCCI, member companies, and partners served as guide walkers for the individuals with visually impairment at the 10th Harmony Marathon with Visually Impaired, organized by Seoul Sports Association for the Disabled.
Launched last year in celebration of the 140th anniversary of Korean-German diplomatic relations, the “KGCCI Joint CSR Guide Walkers” initiative showcases the collaborative spirit among KGCCI, its members, and partners. Especially this year, the event saw an even larger turnout, reflecting the growing enthusiasm and commitment from the community.
