Announcement: Funding for “2+2”-Projects between Germany and South Korea on the Topic of “Energy Transition”

09/07/2020

The funding measure is part of the German Federal Government's strategy for the internationalization of education, science and research and the Ten-Point Programme of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for more innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises. The goal is to promote joint research and development projects of mutual interest, thereby contributing to the strengthening of scientific and technological cooperation between Germany and South Korea.

Funding will be provided for research projects as collaborative projects that work on one or more of the following topics in international cooperation with partners from South Korea:

Topic 1: Materials and technologies for electrical and electrochemical storage, especially innovative batteries

Topic 2: Energy-efficient city: sector coupling in cities and neighborhoods and corresponding digital solutions

A prerequisite for the funding of projects is that at least one German and one Korean university or research institution as well as one German and one Korean research company from the commercial sector or industrial partner are involved in the projects ("2+2”-Projects).

The application procedure has two stages. In the first stage, project outlines must be submitted to the DLR project management organization in electronic form by August 31, 2020, at the latest. The Korean partners must submit complementary applications to the South Korean National Research Foundation (NRF).
