KGCCI 43rd Annual General Meeting: Porsche Korea CEO Re-elected as German Chair

(Seoul, June 26, 2024) The Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI, President & CEO Martin Henkelmann) held the 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 26, 2024, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul.

Holger Gerrmann, CEO of Porsche Korea, has been re-elected as KGCCI’s German Chairperson. Since his initial election in 2022, he has been actively contributing to the Korean-German business community. His involvement extends beyond the boardroom and Innovation Awards that are to support companies that create value in the Korean market through innovative products, and technologies, while also promoting new business collaborations between Korea and Germany. In recognition of his outstanding contributions and leadership, he was appointed as an Honorary Foreign Citizen of Seoul last year.

In his acceptance speech, "It is an honor to continue serving as Chairperson of KGCCI. I look forward to further strengthening the ties between Korea and Germany and supporting our business community's growth."

A chairperson serves a two-year term. Gerrmann will once again lead KGCCI’s Board of Directors together with Korean Chairperson, Hyun-Nam Park, Managing Director of Deutsche Bank, who was re-elected last year.

As Korean Vice Chairperson Mr. HaJoong Chung, President & CEO of Siemens Ltd. Seoul, as German Vice Chairperson Mr. Stefan Spreu, General Manager/Representative Director of ElringKlinger Korea and as Treasurer Ms. JiSook Lee, CFO of Bayer Korea have been re-elected.

In addition, new Board Members have joined: Mr. David Jones, Head of Offshore Development & Country Manager Korea of RWE Renewables Korea LLC, Mr. Sascha Jovanovic, CFO of Webasto Group, Mr. Christoph Nowak, Managing Director of DACHSER Korea Inc., and Mr. Antonio Randazzo, CEO of Daimler Trucks Korea.

Re-elected board members are Mr. Ulf Albinsson, Vice President TAURUS Systems Korea, Mr. Tai Yoen Choi, Representative Director of Armacell Korea LLC, Mr. Michael Hennig, Managing Director of Rieckermann Korea, Dr. Duck Sang Kim, Managing Director of Sartorius Korea Biotech, Ms. May Young-Mi Kim, President of Henkel Korea and Mr. Leandro Tonidandel, General Manager Korea of Lufthansa German Airlines.

The board is completed by Mr. Alex Drljaca, CEO of Robert Bosch Korea Ltd., Mr. Daniel (Il-Seung) Jun, Managing Director of Wilo Pumps Ltd., Dr. WooKyu Kim, Managing Director & Representative Director of Merck Korea, Mr. Jung-Wook Seo, CEO of TÜV SÜD Korea Ltd., Dr. Dschun Song, Managing Director of BASF Company Ltd. and Dr. Martin Henkelmann, President and CEO of KGCCI. 

Dr. Martin Henkelmann stated, “Our diverse and talented Board will continue to drive the success and cooperation between Korean and German businesses, fostering innovation and growth.”

The AGM was followed by a special ceremony where German Ambassador to Seoul Georg Schmidt, presented Berufsbildung certificates to 15 accomplished florists. These individuals have demonstrated exceptional skills and proficiency in various floral decorations, earning them recognition through this certification. The "AHK Florist Qualification" program, organized by KGCCI and domestic flower art academies (Lim's Flower Academy and Oh Myeon Floral Art School) combines elements of the German dual vocational training system., The program adheres to the rigorous criteria – DIHK Quality Category set forth by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), ensuring that participants meet high standards of excellence. Among the recipients of this certification is an employee of Lufthansa, showcasing the program's wide-reaching impact and the diverse backgrounds of its participants.
