The funding is part of the German Federal Government's strategy for the internationalization of education, science and research and the Ten-Point Program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for more innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises. The goal is to promote joint research and development projects of mutual interest and to strengthen scientific and technological cooperation between Germany and South Korea.
Funding will be provided for collaborative research projects that work in specific areas of on one or more of the following topics in international cooperation with partners from South Korea:
Topic 1: Robotics
Topic 2: Lightweight Construction/Carbon
A prerequisite for the funding of projects is that at least one German and one Korean university or research institution as well as one German and one Korean research company from the commercial sector or industrial partner are involved in the projects ("2+2 Projects").
The application procedure has two stages. In the first stage, project outlines must be submitted to the DLR project management organization in electronic form by November 30, 2020. The Korean partners must submit complementary applications to the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT).
