"Energy efficiency in buildings as an essential pillar of the Energy transition in Korea and Germany"

**Please note that the above mentioned time refers to the Korean local time. According to Central European Time (CET), the event starts at 08:45 in the morning on May 29, 2020.

As industry-based economies Korea and Germany face similar challenges when it comes to shaping their energy system’s future. Both countries aim to significantly reduce their carbon emissions by increasing the usage of renewable energy and energy efficiency while phasing out the use of nuclear energy and reducing the reliance on fossil fuels. Energy efficiency policy includes measures to reduce the energy consumption of the new and existing buildings. Improving energy efficiency in buildings is one of the main topics of Korea's third basic energy plan and Germany's energy transition strategy.

Within the framework of the Korean-German Energy Partnership, which was established in December 2019 between the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), KGCCI and adelphi invite on behalf of the BMWi and with the support of MOTIE to a Fireplace Talk on "Energy efficiency in buildings as an essential pillar of the energy transition in Korea and Germany".

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, this event will take place as a webinar. The Fireplace Talk will focus on the strategies, successes and challenges in the field of energy efficiency in buildings in both countries. Among other things, a focus will be on the thermal optimization of the building envelope using the example of the passive house.
