Interview : "Energy Transition, Essential for Energy Security… More Cooperation Expected between Korea and Germany"

Georg Schmidt, the German Ambassador to South Korea, emphasized the importance of energy transition and energy security in an interview with the "[Asking about Sustainable Futures]"series with Money Today on the 22nd last month at the Embassy Residence in Seoul.

He stated in the interview, "Factors driving the energy transition include decarbonization, but also a very important component is energy autarky. Securing energy autarky and controlling energy security are very important." Additionally, he highlighted that South Korea and Germany have significant potential for collaboration in the fields of hydrogen and wind power, and that the two countries share their common characteristics as industrial nations and can enhance their cooperation.
