Interview: "Foreigners Hesitant to Take Positions in Korea... Law Treating CEOs as 'Potential Criminals' is Extreme"[BIZ360]

On April 8th, Martin Henkelmann, the representative of the Korea-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry, revealed in an interview with Herald Economy that foreign CEOs are deliberating over taking on roles as representatives in Korean companies. He criticized the "Serious Accident Penalty Act" for excessively imposing criminal responsibility on CEOs as representatives of their companies, irrespective of their intentions.

Furthermore, Henkelmann underscored the economic cooperation between Korea and Germany, mentioning that both countries can achieve greater progress through collaboration. Particularly, he emphasized cooperation in industries such as decarbonization and the utilization of renewable energy, while also advocating for the need to maximize mutual benefits through international agreements such as the revision of the EU-Korea FTA.
